A GoFundMe is approaching its goal as it raises funds to pay for the funeral of a Lynn woman who was fatally stabbed while she was three months pregnant.
Donations sent will pay for Brianna Welsh, 25, of Lynn, known by her family as Bri Bri, to put her “and her unborn child… to rest,” the GoFundMe description, written by Claudia Welsh, read.
“Brianna was looking forward this week to find out and share with her family and friends if her baby was going to be a boy or a girl,” the description added. “Tragically, she has been taken from us, murdered in her own home.”
Lynn police found Brianna Welsh dead in her home at 254 Lynnway #329 with multiple stab wounds after her mother requested a wellness check, Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office said in a statement.
Zachary Vozzella, 26, of Lynn, was arraigned in Lynn District Court on Thursday, where he pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail, Tucker’s office said. Vozzella was charged with murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
So far, the GoFundMe has raised $12,950 as of 6 p.m. on Friday, nearing its $15,000 goal. One of the top donors contributed $9,000 to the fundraiser.
Donors George and Patti Sowpel wrote that their “hearts are broken for Brianna and her baby – and for the pain you are all going through. She was an amazing person and student.”
“We are all lost without her,” Claudia Welsh wrote. “She was a bright shining star, that went out before her time.”
