WEST SPRINGFIELD — The water in the Heywood Avenue area has been declared safe for drinking and regular use.
The do-not-use water order was lifted July 25, following an investigation by the state Department of Environmental Protection and the West Springfield Department of Public Works Water Division.
A backflow protection device has been installed to prevent future events in this area, West Springfield Mayor William Reichelt said in a Facebook post on Friday.
