Watch Mexico vs. Jamaica free: Copa America 2024 live stream, time

Group B concludes its Matchday 1 at Copa America 2024 on Saturday, June 22 with Mexico taking on Jamaica at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The match is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on FS1, TUDN and Univision. Fans looking to watch can do so through FuboTV or DirecTV Stream, both of which offer a free trial. SlingTV doesn’t offer a free trial but does have other promotional offers available.

This is the first time since 2016 that either Mexico or Jamaica played in Copa America after the 2021 tournament was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and no CONCACAF teams qualified for the 2019 Copa America. When matched up in the same group in 2016, Mexico advanced to the Knockout Stage as the group winner while Jamaica went 0-0-3, including a 2-0 loss to Mexico.

Mexico is looking to improve on the quarterfinal finish it had in 2016 where it was bounced from the tournament after a 7-0 loss to Chile. It will face Ecuador next and then Venezuela to close out group play.

Jamaica is just looking to get points and that will be an upgrade on its last trip to Copa America. It takes on Venezuela and then Ecuador in its final Group Stage match.

The first match of Copa America 2024 saw Argentina earn a win on a pitch the victors and losers said was not up to snuff.

An Associated Press story features commentary from players about their concerns over the playing surface and the long-term ramifications that come from not having a proper pitch.

“Thank goodness we won. Otherwise it would have been a cheap excuse,” Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni said. “They knew seven months ago that we will be playing here and they changed the surface a few days ago. It’s not an excuse, but this wasn’t a good field. Sincerely, the field is not apt for these players.”

Canadian defender Kamal Miller said, “It felt like walking on a stage, as if it was hollow.”

And Argentina keeper Emiliano Martínez said the field issues are the type of problem that can prevent Copa America from getting the same respect as a tournament as The Euros.

“The field was a disaster,” Martínez said. “It seems like a springboard with the ball jumping. They need to improve this. If not, Copa America will always be at lower level than the Euro.”
