
SPRINGFIELD — The state Department of Veterans Services and local legislators will hold an informational session explaining new tax credits and other compensation veterans will be eligible for through the newly-adopted state HERO Act.
The HERO Act Roadshow will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Springfield Technical Community College, 1 Armory St. There is also a virtual program scheduled at 5 p.m., Dec. 19 that people can access through bit.ly/HeroActTownHall.
The act includes more than 30 initiatives including increasing the disabled veteran annuity, extending the time veterans can use the active-duty service buyback, streamlining the excise tax exemption for disabled veterans, expanding mental health services and expanding a variety of support services for military members and veterans and their families.
