Theodore Bland, a Vermont man charged in connection with the deaths of two Western Massachusetts men in 2023, could face the death penalty following a new indictment, Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Vermont Michael P. Drescher’s office said.
A federal grand jury returned a superseding indictment charging Bland, 29, of Stowe, Vermont, in connection with the deaths of Jahim Solomon, of Pittsfield and Eric White, of Chicopee, both 21, Drescher’s office said in a statement released Friday.
“If convicted of the new charges in the superseding indictment, there is a possibility the federal death penalty could apply,” the statement read. “The United States has not yet reached a decision whether it will pursue the death penalty against Bland. If convicted of the new charges Bland also faces a potential prison term of up to life.”
