Valley Blue Sox pitcher David Case awarded NECBL Pitcher of the Week

HOLYOKE – According to a league source, Blue Sox pitcher David Case has been selected as New England Collegiate Baseball League Pitcher of the Week.

Case earned this honor thanks to his start against the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks last Wednesday night. The southpaw earned the win, went five innings of no-hit ball, struck out 11, and walked just two batters.

His start on Wednesday also marked the second time this season that he has recorded 10-plus strikeouts in a single outing.

The California native has pitched three games (all starts) and posted an ERA of 1.35 (13 innings pitched). Case has allowed just as many hits as he has walks this season (seven walks and seven hits). Case has also recorded a team-best 26 strikeouts in those three games this season.

Case is the first Valley player to win any NECBL Player of the Week honors this season. The Blue Sox will return to action against the Ocean State Waves on Tuesday from MacKenzie Stadium as the team celebrates Irish Heritage Night.

The night will be filled with numerous festivities and events for those who love all things Irish. Don’t miss your chance to win exclusive Irish-themed giveaways throughout the game, and be one of the first 100 fans to receive a complimentary Blue Sox glass. Irish beer will also be available for purchase for fans 21-plus.

The gates will open for fans at 5:30 p.m., while the first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
