
At 7 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service issued an updated flash flood warning in effect until 8:45 p.m. for Hampshire County.
“At 7 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen according to Doppler radar estimates. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly,” states the weather service. “Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.”
Locations impacted by the warning include Holyoke, Northampton, South Hadley, Easthampton, Hadley, Hatfield, Williamsburg, Huntington, Westhampton, Whately, Chesterfield and Goshen.
