Holyoke – United Way Pioneer Valley is hosting its annual “Stuff the Truck” event on Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at both Stop and Shop locations, Lincoln Street and Northampton Street in Holyoke. This community-driven event aims to collect donations of essential items that are often missing from the weekly food deliveries from the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, such as spices, oils, and cooking utensils. These items are vital for individuals and families to prepare nutritious meals and stretch their resources.
The event not only helps supplement existing food security efforts but also maximizes the resources available to the community. United Way Pioneer Valley is able to provide $3 worth of food to the community for every $1 spent on program operations, ensuring that donations have the greatest impact possible. This initiative relies heavily on partnerships with organizations like the Hampden County Sheriff’s Office and the Holyoke Safe Neighborhoods Initiative, as well as other local supporters.
