UMass, BC in NCAA men’s Hockey Tournament with distinct New England flavor

A record six Hockey East teams were all selected for the 16-team NCAA Hockey Tournament that was announced on Monday.

The field features eight teams from New England and four from Massachusetts.

No. 1 overall seed Boston College will stay local and head to Manchester, New Hampshire where they’ll face Atlantic Hockey Champion Bentley on Friday at SNHU Arena at 2 p.m.

The winner will play the winner of Providence and Denver on Sunday for a spot in the Frozen Four.

UMass will head to Fargo, North Dakota where they’ll meet Minnesota, the same team that bounced them from the 2022 Tournament on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Western Michigan and Minn-Mankato are also in Fargo.

Boston University will go to Toledo where the Terriers will face Ohio State on Thursday at 2 p.m. They’ll face the winner of Michigan State and Cornell.
