U.S. court in WMass was a showcase. What went wrong? (Viewpoint)

SPRINGFIELD — When the federal courthouse opened on State Street in Springfield in 2008, it received great acclaim for having been designed and built around three landmark and majestic trees that were each over 200 years old. Optimism abounded around the prospects of sustaining those trees.

There is now only one of those trees remaining.
