Two people rescued from roof of burning building amid fire Westborough

First responders used ladders to rescue two people from a burning building after a fire broke out in Westborough early Sunday, according to authorities.

The two-alarm fire was burning in the building at 22 to 26 South St. in Westborough in the pre-dawn hours Sunday morning, the Westborough Fire Department said in social media posts around 4:10 a.m.

Two people were rescued by first responders who were using ladders from a Westborough fire engine and truck, according to the department.

Multiple firefighters from other communities were at the scene of the fire to help with the response, the department noted.

“Westborough firefighters rescued two victims over ladders,” the Shrewsbury Fire Department said in a Facebook post. “Good work by everyone on scene!”

South Street was closed for a period of time from the rotary to Cottage Street, according to the Shrewsbury Police Department.
