Two drivers were killed in a wrong-way car crash on I-93 in Methuen early Monday morning, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Troopers were called to the three-vehicle crash around 2:10 a.m., state police said in a press release. Their initial investigation suggests that a 53-year-old Quincy resident was driving a Toyota RAV4 north on the southbound side of the road when it hit a Toyota Camry head-on.
The driver of the Toyota Camry — a 21-year-old Quincy resident — was declared dead at the scene, state police said. The 53-year-old was taken to a hospital where they were also declared dead.
After crashing with the RAV4, the Camry hit another vehicle, but that vehicle’s driver was not hurt in the crash, state police said. No further information, including the identities of the deceased drivers, has been released.
