TV guide to top NFL Draft picks for Patriots fans

FOXBOROUGH — With the Patriots sitting 1-5 and back-to-back games with the Bills and Dolphins on tap, it’s time to look ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft.

If the season ended tomorrow, New England would have the sixth overall pick, so we created a Patriots fan’s guide to scouting the top selections on TV this weekend. It’s looking more and more like New England is going to need to add a quarterback, so we went heavy there, and then added some more projected Top 10 picks.

So without further ado, here’s where to find the top NCAA talent this weekend:

Caleb Williams

No. 18 USC vs. No. 14 Utah, 8 p.m.

The consensus No. 1 overall pick will look to bounce back from an interception-filled performance at Notre Dame last weekend. Williams is easily the most hyped prospect since Trevor Lawrence, and the Patriots would likely need to fall all the way to the bottom to land his services.

TV: Fox Sports, Fubo

Drake Maye

No. 10 UNC vs. Virginia, 6:30 p.m.

Can Maye leapfrog Williams? Probably not, but the big North Carolina quarterback has been playing some very good football lately. He’s another consensus Top 3 selection.

TV: The CW, Fubo

Michael Penix Jr

No. 5 Washington vs. Arizona State, 10:30 p.m.

After an exhilarating win over Oregon, Penix Jr. will look to avoid a trap game against the Sun Devils. This one is perfect for the night owls in the crowd.

TV: Fox Sports, Fubo

Cameron Ward

Washington State at No. 9 Oregon, 3:30 p.m.

TV: ESPN, Fubo

An upset over the reeling Ducks would go a long way in boosting Ward’s stock as the season rolls on.

Shedeur Sanders, Colorado: Bye

Marvin Harrison Jr., WR

No. 3 Ohio State vs. No. 7 Penn State

TV: Fox Sports, Fubo

If Harrison Jr. walked into Gillette Stadium tomorrow, he’d be the best wideout in the building. The highest profile player in the most anticipated game of the day should certainly turn some heads.

Ola Fashanu, OT

No. 7 Penn State at No. 3 Ohio State

TV: Fox Sports, Fubo

The Patriots desperately need tackle help, and Fashanu might be available right in the range they’re slated to pick at the moment. He could also boost his stock with a big performance at Ohio State.

Dallas Turner, EDGE

No. 11 Alabama vs. No. 17 Tennessee

TV: CBS, Fubo

Do the Patriots need defense? No. Would that preclude Bill Belichick from picking an edge rusher from Alabama? No.

Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB

No. 11 Alabama vs. No. 17 Tennessee

TV: CBS, Fubo

Same story as Turner. Defensive player, but a darn good one who will be on Belichick’s radar.

Joe Alt, Notre Dame OT: Bye

Brock Bowers, Georgia TE: Injured
