Right now you can taste the flavors of Italy at a newly opened cocktail lounge in Boston, but next month the menu will be different.
The Red Fox in the North End has extended its speakeasy aesthetic by transforming the back room of the restaurant into Extra Dirty Cocktail Club.
The hidden cocktail lounge, which opened this month, specializes in fixed-priced menus comprising upscale cocktails and small plates. By already telling guests how much they will pay, Extra Dirty’s aim is to get diners fully immersed in their meal.
“Act 1: A Visit to Italy” is the lounge’s menu for the month of March. The menu features cocktails such as the Uve e Parmigiano — a gin-based drink with a Parmesan cheese foam on top — and the Arancia Rossa e Pepe — a play on a spicy margarita made with freshly scooped Campari Granita.
Meanwhile current food options include meatballs, handmade pasta and more dishes inspired by classic Italian flavors and techniques.
Bar director Phillip Rolfe said Italy was the perfect country to introduce Extra Dirty to the neighborhood.
“We wanted to start Extra Dirty with a nod to the North End neighborhood as well as a celebration of All Day Hospitality’s roots, taking guests on a journey through Italy’s rich food culture while applying modern and complex production processes that guests have become accustomed to at Farmacia,” Rolfe said in a press release. “By combining classic Italian flavors in new and innovative ways, I think we’re creating something that simultaneously timeless and fresh.”
Extra Dirty’s following “acts” will all revolve around different regions, concepts and spirits, so guests can always expect something new when they step through the lounge’s curtain.
Tickets for “Act 1″ are $90 a person. The meal comes with three cocktails and three small plates. Reservations last up to two hours and can be made for up to five people.
Tickets can be purchased online. Extra Dirty Cocktail Club is located within The Red Fox at 326B Commercial St., Boston.
