Town applies for CDBG grant to fund Phase Two of North Lake Avenue improvements and local food pantry

SOUTHWICK — The Select Board authorized the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission last week to apply for Community Development Block Grant funds of $694,500 to fund improvements to North Lake Avenue and to cover operational expenses for Our Community Food Pantry.

“We’re about halfway there,” DPW Director Randy Brown said about the North Lake Avenue project that was started last year using a CDBG grant of $700,350.

The federal grant program was also used for improvements at Bungalow Street that started in 2021 and are expected to be finished in the next six weeks.
