The Topsfield Fair’s hot dog eating contest winner set a new record on Saturday.
Brandon Wood, of Warren, Massachusetts, won the fifth annual Topsfield Fair Hot Dog Eating Contest on Saturday, Sept. 30.
Wood had set a record in 2022 by eating 10 quarter-pound hot dogs in 7 minutes — a record he topped this year.
This year, Wood ate 11 quarter-pound hot dogs and buns in 7 minutes, which is the equivalent of 22 standard hot dogs.
For his winnings, Wood received $205 — to celebrate the 205th Topsfield Fair — from Marc Freedman, who runs the Bnai Brith Booth at the Fair and sponsored the contest.
The fair, which has been running since 1818, is one of the oldest agricultural fairs in the country. This year’s fair runs from Sept. 29 to Oct. 9. It includes a demolition derby, a hot dog-eating contest, pageants, livestock showcases and the 39th annual All New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off. Performances for this year include Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, Clay Walker, the Flying Wallendas, visits by the Budweiser Clydesdale horses and more.
