Tom Brady is happy to see his old coach picking up the whistle once again.
Bill Belichick agreed to a five-year deal to become the new head coach at North Carolina, the university announced on Wednesday afternoon. After parting ways with the Patriots last January and not finding a gig in last year’s NFL coaching cycle, the 72-year-old Belichick struck quickly this time around, jumping to the college ranks.

Brady, who quarterbacked six of Belichick’s teams to Super Bowl titles, was quick to offer a note of congratulations on his Instagram page.
“Congrats Coach,” Brady wrote. “The Tar Heel way is about to become a thing (100 emoji)”
Just three days ago, Brady said he couldn’t envision Belichick as a college coach on FOX’s pregame show, but apparently seeing is believing now.
“There’s a lot of things he can do, and obviously he’s tremendous, and even showing his personality. But getting out there on the recruiting trail and dealing with all these college kids with NIL? Could you imagine him recruiting?” Brady said on FOX before breaking into a Belichick impression: “Do you really want to come here? We don’t really want you anyway.”
After North Carolina announced his hiring, Belichick released a brief statement about explaining why he made the leap to coaching the Tar Heels.
“I am excited for the opportunity at UNC-Chapel Hill,” Belichick wrote. “I grew up around college football with my dad ad treasured those times. I have always wanted to coach in college and now I look forward to building the football program in Chapel Hill.”
