Tom Brady makes surprise TV debut as football analyst, but not for the NFL

The UFL Championship Game was a bit of a warm-up for Tom Brady on Sunday as he prepares for his new TV gig.

Brady called his first-ever football game in his new role as a TV broadcaster on Sunday for FOX, joining the booth for the spring football league’s inaugural championship game.

The former New England Patriots quarterback stepped into the booth during the second quarter of the matchup between the Birmingham Stallions and the San Antonio Brahmas. Brady joined the duo of Curt Menefee and Joel Klatt to lend his analysis to the game.

Brady is set to make his highly anticipated debut as a full-time broadcaster this fall with FOX. In 2022, Brady agreed to a 10-year, $375 million deal with FOX to work as a color commentator for games. After sitting out the 2023 season, Brady has reportedly been hard at work preparing for his new career in the booth.

Brady will work as part of FOX’s No. 1 broadcast team alongside Kevin Burkhardt, calling the top game for FOX each week.

In addition to his appearance in the booth, Brady was on hand to give out the championship game MVP award. The honor went to Stallions quarterback Adrian Martinez, who also won the league’s regular-season MVP award.

The Stallions shut out the Brahmas in a 25-0 victory, making the UFL’s first champions. The UFL is a spring football league created by the merger between the USFL and XFL. The Stallions had won the last two championships under the old USFL, making this the third straight season where the franchise has won their league’s championship.
