Those in the market for a new couch, mattress or sofa will soon find two new shopping options at Assembly Row in Somerville.
This year, two stores whose parent companies filed bankrupt and left Somerville storefronts vacant for close to a year, will soon be replaced by two furniture stores at the often-expanding Assembly Row, according to a representative for the “smart growth development.” Assembly Row will also see a new restaurant when Posto moves from David Square.
The stores — Bob’s Discount Furniture and Raymour & Flanigan — are replacing Christmas Tree Shops and Bed Bath & Beyond, which both filed for bankruptcy last year, the Boston Globe reported.
Federal Realty, the real estate company that leases out properties in Assembly Row, told the Globe the glut of popular furniture and home stores in Somerville “creates an even more compelling destination.”

Posto, which opened in Davis Square in 2009, will move to Assembly Row either this summer or fall, according to a press release from Goldstein Pierce, a public relations agency that represents Assembly Row.
The Italian eatery will offer a new takeout market/cafe next to its full-service dining area, the press release read.
“Bringing Posto to Assembly Row is a terrific addition for everyone — hotel guests, visitors, shoppers and residents alike,” David Middleton, vice president and general manager of Assembly Row, said in the statement.
Posto serves a variety of Italian dishes, including handmade pasta, grilled meats, fish and poultry and its famous Neapolitan wood-fired pizza, the press release read.
