These cities, towns have landed $11M from state to fight youth violence

BOSTON — Over $11 million is coming from the state to help reduce youth and gang violence, the Healey-Driscoll administration recently announced.

Incidents of youth violence are on the rise throughout the commonwealth, and this allocation of funds from the Charles E. Shannon Jr. Community Safety Initiative is aimed at addressing the problem.

In 2023, the number of juvenile justice cases in Massachusetts jumped to its highest level since before the outbreak of COVID-19.
