Clam chowder is one of New England’s most quintessential dishes and Boston is arguably one of the best cities that serves the signature soup.
With so many seafood spots, taverns and pubs fighting for the best clam chowder, only 15 were named to Eater Boston’s list of “Where to Eat New England Clam Chowder in Boston.” The list of restaurants was as follows:

Several of Eater Boston’s recommendations are also among the top 10 highest rated on Yelp including Neptune Oyster, James Hook & Co. and Saltie Girl.
“My wife got the clam chowder, and it was among the best that we have ever had,” one reviewer said about James Hook.
“We ordered the clam chowder, hot lobster roll and johnnycake. I can say this is the best clam chowder and the best lobster roll I’ve ever had,” a customer at Neptune Oyster said.
Another reviewer said Saltie Girl’s chowder was “so delish” and “one of the best I ever had. It was very flavorful and had lots of bacon.”
