Internet database Numbeo released a Cost of Living Index earlier this month that ranks the world’s most expensive cities by assessing factors like the cost of groceries, eating in restaurants and local purchasing power. The cities are then given a cost of living score and ranked appropriately.

Boston came in at No. 5 on the list. The city was preceded by Geneva, Switzerland (1), Zurich, Switzerland (2), New York City (3) and San Francisco (4).
