“The Voice” is welcoming two contestants with ties to the commonwealth.
Two Berklee College of Music alumni are some of the many hopeful artists joining season 24 of the show, competing for a cash prize and recording contract, Berklee announced.
Taylor Deneen, from the Class of 2021, and Claudia Swope, from the Class of 2019, will have both their blind auditions aired on the new season’s first two episodes on Monday and Tuesday.
The blind rounds are when contestants perform a song to the backs of the coaches. During the blind auditions, the decisions from the coaches are based solely on voice and not on looks.
The coaches hear the artists perform, but they don’t get to see them — thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the artist’s voice, he/she pushes a button to select the artist for his/her team, NBC wrote. If more than one coach is interested, the contestant chooses which team to join.
“A singer, songwriter, and producer, Deneen majored in professional music and contemporary writing and production and started releasing original singles in 2020. Swope, who also majored in professional music, is a singer and keyboardist based in Nashville, and has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and on Fox 5′s Good Day DC,” the school said about its notable alumni.
The new season will air Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on NBC. For those without cable, it can also be streamed on platforms like Peacock and FuboTV. Both platforms offer a free trial for those interested in signing up for a membership.
