The hits keep coming as Western Mass Roller Derby rebounds from pandemic

WILBRAHAM — On Sunday nights, a roller rink off Boston Road fills with the sounds of whistles and roller skates gliding and screeching. Protective gear clatters as skaters practice hits.

These are the sounds of Myra Lam’s “other” life. Lam works full-time as a third-grade teacher at Mosier Elementary in South Hadley. In her free time, she is here at Interskate 91 South in Wibraham, captaining the Western Mass Furies roller derby team.
