The attorney for police accused in the death of a mentally ill man requests lawsuit be dropped.

Officers responding to a call involving a mentally ill man who later died after the encounter used “reasonable force” in subduing and using a Taser on the man, their attorney argued at a hearing in federal court Thursday.

John Cloherty, representing Leominster officers Juan Ramos and Matthew DiPerri, as well as the City of Leominster, requested U.S. District Judge Margaret Guzman issue summary judgment in his clients’ favor, dismissing the case.
