A suspect authorities believe was involved in a fatal multi-car crash in Plymouth Friday evening that involved street racing has turned himself in, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
The unnamed man, who was driving a Dodge Charger when the crash happened, turned himself in to authorities on Saturday, the district attorney’s office said. Is it unclear what charges he is facing in connection with the crash, which took the life of an as-yet unidentified woman in her late 20s.
The Dodge driver is the second person to be charged in the crash, which happened around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 on Route 3 south, Massachusetts State Police said previously. Plymouth resident Anthony Bradley, 30, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee in which the woman who died was a passenger, and is facing charges including motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, negligent operation, a breakdown lane violation and speeding.
Police believe Bradley was racing another car at the time of the crash, state police said. Witnesses told police he was traveling at a “high rate of speed in the breakdown lane” when he hit a Mini Cooper he was trying to pass.
The Jeep rolled over, struck a vehicle while crossing the highway and then came to a rest near the median, police said. The Dodge Challenger received front-end damage in the crash, and its driver fled the scene afterwards.
The woman who died was ejected from the Jeep during the crash, state police said. She was flown to a Boston hospital for treatment, but died at the hospital.
Bradley was also seriously injured in the crash and flown to a Boston hospital for treatment, state police said. He is expected to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court when medically able.
Authorities are still investigating the crash.
