Surfers saved a fellow surfer at Jenness State Beach in New Hampshire after they realized something was wrong with the man while he was in the water.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, a surfer began having a medical emergency while he was surfing and went unconscious, Rye Police Chief Kevin Walsh and Fire Chief Mark Cotreau said in a statement.
Other surfers at the beach noticed something was wrong and pulled the surfer from the water, officials said. Rye lifeguards then began delivering critical life-saving care.
The man was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for further treatment.
