Springfield voting system given ‘clean bill of health’ despite inactive voting list disparities

SPRINGFIELD — Following concerns about major ward-to-ward disparities in the inactive voter list, city officials asked for a review of their voting procedures from the Attorney General and Secretary of State’s offices.

“We got a clean bill of health,” said Stephen Buoniconti, city solicitor.

Thursday, two days after the preliminary election, the City Council’s Race and Civil Rights Committee reviewed issues surrounding the inactive voter list in a meeting attended by at least six councilors.
