Springfield Traffic Bureau investigating death of 42-year-old pedestrian in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD – The Police Department’s Traffic Bureau is continuing to investigate the Sunday night crash that killed a 42-year-old woman.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was standing in the road in the area of 300 Hancock St. when a car struck her and knocked her down. A second driver passing the scene hit the woman as she was on the ground, said Ryan Walsh, police spokesman.

The woman, who was struck at about 7:50 p.m., died at the scene, Walsh said.

The first driver fled the scene after striking the woman. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the crash, he said.
