SPRINGFIELD — The City Council approved a zone change that will allow a local developer to convert a lot with a small restaurant and a used car dealership into an apartment complex.
The council voted 11-0 this past week to approve the change to a parcel at Berkshire Avenue and Cottage Street. The change rezones the nearly 1.25-acre lot to a business classification, which allows multifamily housing. Previously part of the property was zoned for industry and the other part was zoned as business.
