Springfield man sentenced for buying guns for his father

SPRINGFIELD — A city man was sentenced to four months of home confinement for making numerous straw purchases of firearms for his father who had amassed an arsenal of guns at the family homestead.

Tyler Augusto, 24, an engineer with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, pleaded guilty in February to three criminal counts, including making false statements to acquire firearms.
