Springfield forum on MCAS ballot question sponsored by Forest Park Civic Association

SPRINGFIELD — The Forest Park Civic Association will hold a public forum to discuss the pros and cons of ballot Question 2, which will ask voters if they want to eliminate the requirement that high school students pass the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment Exam to receive a high school diploma.

Max Page, president of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and Cynthia Agruso, an Agawam Junior High School teacher, will serve as panelists. The association has endorsed the ballot question, while Agruso has spoken against changing the requirement. Michael Dobbs, former publisher/editor of The Reminder Publications, will serve as moderator.

The forum will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday at the former Faith Church on 52 Sumner Ave. It is free and open to the public, and will also be televised on Focus Springfield.
