SPRINGFIELD — The city is promising a safe and fun July 4 fireworks celebration that will include a visit from a 30-foot Uncle Sam on the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
The city fireworks display is a decades-old tradition, with the celebration beginning at 6 p.m. at Riverfront Park with food trucks, face painters and a flyover from the National Guard’s 104th Fighter Wing. Maxxtone will be performing at 7:15 p.m., preceded by welcoming remarks and the National Anthem, officials said in an announcement about the event Monday.
