It pains us to say that, yes, as Springfield residents, we live in this kind of city.
Sadly, many people do, and not just in Springfield; the failure we are about to describe lies not with this great city’s residents, but with people who take murderous intent out into public, with no regard for the safety of others.
We saw last week that this is a city where a grandmother can get a phone call from a frantic child sitting in a car that someone has just swept with bullets. “They were panicked, saying ‘Grandma help us, help us,” this grandmother recalled the next day.
