Springfield controversy pits benefits of trees against solar farm proposal

SPRINGFIELD — A plan to install solar panels on a 13-acre wooded lot is pitting neighbors against neighbors, with some conservation groups arguing the plan makes no sense environmentally.

But other residents said they have been watching one of the last undeveloped lots on Allen Street for years with concern and this is the best and least intrusive use of the privately-owned land.
