WORCESTER — No. 7 Springfield Central played some of its best defense all season during the fourth quarter against No. 3 Newton North in the Division I state semifinals on Tuesday.
But it came too late. The Golden Eagles got within striking distance, but the Tigers did enough to hold onto its lead and win, 53-49.
