‘Spirits’ to come alive for Southwick history group’s cemetery walk fundraiser

SOUTHWICK — The town’s Historical Society will feature a “real daughter of the American Revolution” at its “Walk with Southwick Spirits” next Saturday.

“Her father served in the American Revolution, and she was still alive in 1900,” said Patricia Odiorne, the volunteer historian and treasurer of the Historical Society, about the “new” spirit added to the 12th annual event.

The guided walks take place 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Old Cemetery on College Highway, just south of Klaus Anderson Road. If it rains, the event will move to 1-4 p.m. on Sunday. Volunteers will portray notable people buried in the cemetery, and share facts about them.
