SOUTHWICK — Residents will only have to wait a few more months before they will be able to enroll in the town’s municipal aggregation program and save money on their electric bills now that the state’s Department of Public Utilities has approved the town’s application.
“My goal has always been to save residents money and bring more money into town” said Select Board Member Jason Perron, who spearheaded the effort to allow the town to create its own electricity aggregation program called “Southwick’s Community Choice Power Supply Program.”
In May 2023, Town Meeting approved an article that would let the town develop the aggregation program and several months later the Select Board chose Colonial Power Group to represent the town’s interest when negotiating electricity rates with a competitive supplier.
