MARLBOROUGH — With an unwavering commitment to finding, documenting, restoring and maintaining the gravestones of veterans in cemeteries in Westfield and Southwick, former American Legion Post 124 Commander Gene Theroux was presented with the Joseph J. Conway Award for Community Service by the statewide American Legion’s 56th Annual Convention on June 8 in Marlborough.
“It nice to be recognized, but I’m not doing this for my own benefit, but the for the long term so people can appreciate the services of these men,” Theroux said, who serves as the Westfield’s veterans graves officer and as the graves officer for Southwick, where he lives.
