SOUTHWICK – Select Board member Jason Perron made it clear during the board’s meeting Monday that he wanted the disqualified application submitted by town resident James Jaron for one of two retail cannabis permits the town is offering to be considered equally with four other applicants despite Select Board member Diane Gale’s insistence she properly followed the process adopted by the board when she rejected his application.
“My opinion that Mr. Jaron’s application needs to come forward and be scored; I don’t care who gets the license,” Perron said as he opened the discussion on the process the board approved in its Request for Information to prospective cannabis retailers to apply for the permits.
During the board’s meeting on June 17, Gale announced that she had vetted the five applications for the two retail cannabis permits the town is offering and removed Jaron’s application to open a retail operation at the former Roma Restaurant because of significant omissions in the application.
