SOUTHWICK – With the Secret Santa and Angry Elves toy drive in full swing, Southwick Civic Fund President Joe Deedy wasn’t sure the nonprofit could fit another philanthropic project in its schedule, but a generous anonymous donation changed all that.
“Let’s do this,” Deedy said Tuesday about the civic fund’s North Carolina Toy Run that will head south on Friday, Dec. 20 to drop off a load of toys for families with children who are still reeling from the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene in late September.
“We kind of put it on the backburner because of everything we’re doing,” he said referring to the ongoing toy drive for Southwick, Granville, and Tolland and organizing the annual Winter Forest and Craft Fair at Town Hall.
