After making it to the Top 20 contestants of “American Idol,” Baylee Littrell — son of Backstreet Boys member Brian Littrell — has been eliminated from the show’s 23rd season.
Littrell did not advance to the Top 14 contestants during Monday night’s episode, when the singer was one of 10 “Idol” hopefuls who were sorted into the “danger zone” based on viewers’ votes. From there, the decision was in the hands of judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan.
To stay in the competition, Littrell appealed to the judging panel with a performance of the John Legend song “All of Me.”
“Baylee, I feel like every time you get on the stage, you give us more,” Underwood said.
The judge and Season 4 “Idol” winner even called the moment his “best performance.” But it apparently wasn’t enough to keep Littrell in the running, and the singer went home alongside five other contestants: Isaiah Misailegalu, Drew Ryn, Zaylie Windsor, Olivier Bergeron, and Victor Solomon.
“You guys rose to the challenge, week after week, challenge after challenge,” Underwood told the “danger zone” contestants before announcing the judges’ final decision. “You’ve done amazing. Take that with you and be proud of that, no matter what happens.”
