Some Things I Think I Think: On telling the truth when it comes to injuries

* When it comes to disclosing information about injuries to pro athletes, truth can be an elusive concept. Nobody wants to provide too much information and give opponents a competitive advantage, so teams in every sport play semantics, understate the severity of injuries, and occasion, flat-out lie about them.

But it shouldn’t be hard to achieve a modest level of honest disclosure. That’s not a high bar to clear, and yet, from the start of the season, the Red Sox have failed that test when it comes to Rafael Devers.
