Social media posts foil GOP candidate’s nomination for Longmeadow voting panel

LONGMEADOW – The appointment of a Longmeadow resident to the town’s Board of Registrars is typically a straightforward process.

This year, it turned into a political showdown.

As a nonpartisan town government, the Longmeadow Select Board has established a precedent to alternate the majority political party on the Board of Registrars every election cycle. The Registrar’s responsibilities range from overseeing the people handling the election, including the town clerk and poll workers, to determining if a recount is needed, and if so, how each ballot is called.
