A winter storm that began Wednesday night continued to blast Massachusetts on Thursday, bringing up to 6 inches of snow in some areas of the state, snarling travel and forcing cancellations and delays at numerous schools.
By Thursday morning, the storm had grown intense enough that it brought snow to parts of Eastern Massachusetts, as far east as Boston and as far south as Providence, Rhode Island, overcoming marginal temperatures around 35 degrees. As a result, forecasters say accumulations of up to an inch are possible in the eastern part of the state, a change from prior forecasts, which predicted little to no snow in the area.
