A suspected burglar unintentionally put himself in the spotlight after turning on a stolen security camera, the Pittsfield Police Department wrote.
On Tuesday, a Pittsfield resident wrote on Facebook that their North Street residence had been broken into. The police department also got a call about the burglary stating the door had been broken.
Police found video evidence of a man stealing objects from inside the person’s residence.
However, the video continued after the suspected burglar left.
Police said the suspect took the camera back to their own home and “accidentally activated the camera, showing a clear picture of their own face, solidifying identification.”
Police later arrested the man at their house. He was charged with breaking and entering at night time, vandalism and larceny from a building.
