Sixth inning dooms Valley Blue Sox against Vermont Mountaineers

The Valley Blue Sox, led by the pitching trio of Curry Sutherland, Dylan Terwilliger, and Jack Niedringhaus, found themselves in a 5-1 hole in the bottom of the sixth inning on Saturday. Despite their best efforts, the Vermont Mountaineers extended to a 9-1 lead, making it clear that the game was slipping away.

The Blue Sox ultimately lost by a final score of 10-5

Matt Lauria started this game for the Blue Sox in splendid fashion. While giving up three runs over five innings and had over five strikeouts. Lauria was a significant factor in keeping the Blue Sox in this game up until that sixth inning, but at the end of the day, it was another mediocre performance for the Blue Sox offense.

While the Blue Sox have shown offensive inconsistencies and a walking issue, they have also demonstrated their ability to find the ball. With over 40 walks this season, there is room for improvement in pitch control and aim. If these areas are addressed, the team could make a strong showing in the postseason.

The Blue Sox will return home to Mackenzie Stadium on Sunday afternoon to host the Danbury Westerners. The first pitch will be thrown shortly after 3:05 p.m., and the game can be streamed on the NECBL network as ESPN+.
