A fast-moving snow and freezing rainstorm is causing schools in the Berkshires to have a 2-hour day on Thursday.
About 1 inch of snow is expected before it changes to rain or freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service.
“Between the light snow accumulations plus the potential for a glaze of ice from freezing rain, slippery travel conditions are possible during today`s morning commute,” the National Weather Service warned. “Motorists should travel cautiously this morning by slowing down and allow extra time.”
Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton also had to have a 2-hour delay Thursday due to an issue with heat in the building.
