WESTFIELD – A special meeting of the Westfield School Committee on Wed., Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers will take up the discussion of whether to go forward this spring with a Statement of Interest (SOI) to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for a new high school, which is the only item on the agenda besides public participation.
The special meeting was scheduled after a straw poll taken at the last School Committee meeting showed members were in favor of seeking a comprehensive high school that would incorporate both Westfield High School and Westfield Technical Academy.
Michael Tirrell, chair of the Facilities sub-committee, said at the meeting on Jan. 29 the School Committee will decide whether or not to proceed for this year’s application period, which is due in early April.
