Roots go deep on rising public anger over health care (Editorial)

People in record numbers are lashing out in anger at health care workers, as recent coverage in The Republican documented. More needs to be done to protect doctors, nurses and physician assistants from this random workplace violence. That’s the message of a January 2023 report by the Massachusetts Health Association.

The report contains sensible recommendations to curb this unacceptable behavior, such as better security, panic alarms and enhanced emergency communication – all geared toward maximizing the ability of health care workers to protect themselves if attacked.
